001×7 is a polystyrene matrix of gel type strong acid cation exchange resin containing sulfuric acid, which is equivalent to solid sulfuric acid. Apply to the softening of water and other liquids, desalination. Also widely used in monosodium glutamate, amino acids and the extraction of antibiotics.

6、Precautions:

1.Resin should be wet state preservation. The best temperature is above 0℃. Resin should be put into a closed space or add in salt water of 5% or above if not used for a long time.Should be anti-freezing during transportation. Do not place heavy objects on the resin in case being crashed.

2.Generally requires alkali- water - acid - water flow path for processing. Strict requirement needs three circulation before coming to final ion kenel.

3.Need to consider different transformation expansion rate to set aside enough space to prevent resin overflow and ensure the appropriate liquid level height; Column diameter ratio should be within a reasonable range and avoid bias current; Use wet packed column or back-flushing to wash away bubbles inside resin layer.

4.Before liquid going into the resin column, steps as flocculation, filtration, or sand-filtration should be taken so that it doesn’t jam resin pore with suspended solids .

5.Resin inside the column that hasn’t been used for a long time should be storaged outside of the column after washing, or adding salt water in the salt resistant medium while keeping liquid level not dehydrated with usual backwashing to loosen resin in case of agglomeration.

Can strong acid cationic resin 001×7H replace softening resin?

Not possible.

Cationic resin, its full name is strong acid cation exchange resin, also known as water treatment softening resin. It has the characteristics of high exchange capacity, fast exchange speed, and good mechanical strength. It is especially suitable for the preparation of soft water and pure water for boilers.


Water treatment softening resin (IONRESIN) contains a large number of strong acid groups, such as sulfonic acid group -SO3H, which is easy to dissociate H+ in the solution, so it is strongly acidic. After the resin is dissociated, the negatively charged groups contained in the body, such as SO3-, can adsorb and bind other cations in the solution. These two reactions exchange the H+ in the resin with the cations in the solution.


After the water treatment softening resin is used for a period of time, it needs to be regenerated, that is, the ion exchange reaction is carried out in the opposite direction with chemicals to restore the functional groups of the resin to its original state for reuse. The above-mentioned cationic resin is regenerated with strong acid. At this time, the resin releases the adsorbed cations and combines with H+ to restore the original composition.

This type of resin (IONRESIN) contains weakly acidic groups, such as carboxyl-COOH, which can dissociate H+ in water and become acidic. The acidity of this resin is weak, and it is difficult to dissociate and perform ion exchange at low pH. It can only work in alkaline, neutral or slightly acidic solutions (such as pH 5 to 14).
